:Thanks for your pledge. I can't reciprocate at this time, however. If we can get through mediation and arrive at a consensus for how to maintain balance and present both sides of the arguments, then I hope to be able to withdraw as well. At this point, I think I'm the only editor who is not a principal in the off-wiki controversy who stands up for the side that you're not on. If you know some other editor willing to take on that role, let me know. [[User:Dicklyon|Dicklyon]] ([[User talk:Dicklyon|talk]]) 06:01, 9 February 2009 (UTC) |

My user name is my real name, and I am a professional sex researcher.
Wikipedia is interesting to me for being a place that permits interaction between people who study sexuality systematically (in theory, anyway) and people who live it directly. I quickly learned after coming here that many of the sexology articles already contain references to the people and organizations that are socially or politically involved in their topics. So, a large portion of my edits are about adding information and references from the scientific literature.
Although neither my university nor my hospital are at all involved in what I do on Wikipedia, some information about my professional research activities and publications can be found on my university website, Dr. James Cantor. Any web search will reveal the rest.
If you have a question about the literature on a wikipedia page about sexology, please feel free to ask if I can help.

A pledge
There is a set of three editors, Dicklyon, Jokestress, and me, who have at least a perception of a conflict of interest in a set of WP pages. Various editors disagree on who has how significant of a COI on what. In order to prevent whatever COI I might be perceived to have from affecting Wikipedia, I pledge not to edit article space of the pages listed below, and I invite both Dicklyon, Jokestress to do the same.
- The Man Who Would Be Queen
- Lynn_Conway
- Homosexual_transsexual
- Ray Blanchard
- Blanchard, Bailey, and Lawrence theory
- Feminine essence theory of transsexuality
- Diagnostic_and_Statistical_Manual_of_Mental_Disorders
- J. Michael Bailey
- Autogynephilia
- Archives of Sexual Behavior
- Centre for Addiction and Mental Health
- Transsexualism
- Andrea James
- Deirdre McCloskey

Pledge II

When you came you were in all honesty destructive. Now you are a good editor with good knowledge of WP policies. You could have taken their enforcement personally. You could have been discouraged but you weren't. Thanks for staying with us crazy people. Hfarmer (talk) 12:26, 16 August 2008 (UTC) |
