Tim Skold (born Thim Sköld on December 14, 1966, in Skövde, Sweden) is a well known multi-instrumentalist and currently the bassist and studio guitarist of Marilyn Manson.
Biography
During the 1980s, Skold played bass guitar for Shotgun Messiah (originally known as Kingpin) under the name "Tim Tim". Originally based in Sweden, the band eventually relocated to Los Angeles, California, in the U.S.. Shotgun Messiah experieced several line-up changes and Skold emerged as the band's frontman, upon which he began using the name "Tim Skold". The band released what would be their final album, Violent New Breed, in 1993, with Skold and Harry Cody as the only members. The album was geared more towards industrial rock, a style Skold continues to play to this day.
After the disbanding of Shotgun Messiah, Skold released the solo album Skold in 1996 and joined industrial band KMFDM the following year. During the KMFDM's temporary hiatus, he co-founded the short-lived MDFMK project with Sascha Konietzko in 2000, later participating in KMFDM's 2002 return. He also performed with ohGr and friend Taime Downe's band The Newlydeads.
In 2002, incomplete demo versions of several unreleased tracks from Skold were stolen and distributed as an unofficial EP known as Dead God; while the songs have never been officially released, they are widely available on the Internet.
That same year, Skold replaced Twiggy Ramirez as the bassist of Marilyn Manson, appearing in the video for "Tainted Love". He participated in the 2003 album The Golden Age of Grotesque and remains active in the band as a guitarist and bassist.
