The Park was a cricket ground situated in the grounds of the mansion of George Finch, 9th Earl of Winchilsea at Burley-on-the-Hill in Rutland.
It was used for first-class cricket in 1790, when an All-England team played a team styled Hampshire. This fixture was repeated the following year and also in 1791, an Old Etonians side played the Marylebone Cricket Club. In 1792 the Earl of Winchilsea's XI played Assheton Smith's XI. In 1793, another team styled England played a Surrey team at the ground. The final match to carry first class status held on the ground took place later the same season when the Earl of Winchilsea's XI played R Leigh's XI.[1]
As late as 1814, the Earl was still playing in matches on the ground though he was by then, 61 years of age.
After a period of relative neglect, the ground has been used in recent years by the Lord's Taverners and for other matches of that nature.[2]
