This is a complicated situation that I'm not sure how to render: There is an existing family tree at Cyriacus Buyruk Khan. The grand-daughter, Ibaqa Beki, is listed as being married to Jürchedei, which is correct. However, she also was, prior to that marriage, married to Genghis Khan. I saw above how to render a situation with two marriages, however, this is complicated by the family tree, where her sister is married to a son of Genghis Khan.--<b style="color:navy">3family6</b> (<u style="color:black">Talk to me</u> | <small style="color:purple">See what I have done</small>) 18:20, 23 October 2020 (UTC) |

Dear fellow Wikipedians, |
|||
as I was editing Medici family tree, where things complicated a bit, I got an idea. Is there any chance of color-coding those lines? This idea is also stated in this article () on example of divorce. Another problem I was facing was width and height as new generations were added. Any chance of locking these ratios? Is color-coding possible with our template? Thanks in advance. --A09090091 (talk) 20:05, 24 December 2020 (UTC) |

What are p q r
in Family tree?
In the section Template:Tree chart#Migration from familytree the instructions for converting the tiles p
, q
& r
were wrong.
These are the notes I made to check the correct changes to make:
- Tiles
p
,q
&r
in Family tree are:
- The equivalent tiles in Tree chart are
dj
,jc
&fy
which are:
I have already made the necessary changes. Tango Mike Bravo (talk) 11:55, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
Double border
Any chance of a tile style with border: 1px double black
?
I'm using this template/module over on English Wikisource trying to replace various historical family tree templates, and have run across a style of family tree that uses a double line between boxes to indicate marriages. An example is at s:Page:The Complete Peerage Ed 2 Vol 1.djvu/91 (the scanned page image on the right). I've so far only seen this for the equivalent of the v
tile, so simply having vd
or v2
or similar would be sufficient, but it's conceivable other use cases exist for double lines.
In any case, I would prefer to not have to patch this over on enWS every time we re-import the code from here, so I would very much appreciate it if we could get this from "upstream". I could mock this up in the sandbox, but I imagine it'll be faster (and less disruptive to any other ongoing changes) for someone familiar with the code to do it. --Xover (talk) 13:10, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
"Crows' feet"
Cf. the above (#Double border), on s:Page:The Complete Peerage Ed 2 Vol 1.djvu/91, they're using a little crows' feet-like symbol to indicate that there was issue from a marriage but that that branch of the tree has been elided. I haven't been able to come up with any elegant way to support that. Anybody have ideas?
The best I've been able to come up with is a tile with a suitable image in it, set to scale with the size of the surrounding <td>
. At the sizes we're talking about here, a bitmap ought to do the job, but ideally, I suppose, one would use an SVG (is there support for inline SVG in data: attributes yet?). It feels a little icky to suggest using an image in an otherwise entirely markup-based template (especially one that, among others, replaces an image-based implementation iirc), but I can't really think of any better alternatives. --Xover (talk) 13:21, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
