This template should be used for press sources which discuss Wikipedia as a project, and links the article's talk page to Wikipedia:Press coverage. If a press source mentions a specific Wikipedia article, use {{onlinesource}} instead, which links to Wikipedia:Wikipedia as a press source.
This template automatically adds articles to Category:Wikipedia as a media topic.
Usage
This template takes the following input:
{{press | subject = article | author=Author | title=Title of press article | org=Media outlet/organization | url=URL to press article | date=Date | quote=Quote }}
An optional unnamed parameter allows you to customize the name of the link to Wikipedia:press coverage. For example, it may be more accurate to read "mentioned unfavorably", in case the original article becomes unavailable.
The |subject=
parameter is optional and will display "this article has been mentioned...". Set |subject=template
to display "this template has been mentioned..." and so on.
Use |collapsed=yes
for a collapsed default display. To include additional sources, affix a number greater than 1 (2, 3, etc.) to additional parameters. Up to 20 sources can be added to the template.
{{press | author=Author | title=Title of press article | org=Media outlet/organization | url=URL to press article | date=Date | quote=Quote | author2=Author | title2=Title of press article | org2=Media outlet/organization | url2=URL to press article | date2=Date | quote2=Quote … | author20=Author | title20=Title of press article | org20=Media outlet/organization | url20=URL to press article | date20=Date | quote20=Quote }}
Examples
{{press |author=Joe Blow |date=16 November 2006 |url=http://google.com |title=Something Nifty This Way Comes |org=Slashdot }}
