This template should be used for press sources which discuss Wikipedia as a project, and links the article's talk page to Wikipedia:Press coverage. If a press source mentions a specific Wikipedia article, use {{Online source}} instead, which links to Wikipedia:Wikipedia as a press source.
This template automatically adds articles to Category:Wikipedia as a media topic.
Usage
This template takes the following input:
{{Press | subject = article | author=Author | title=Title of press article | org=Media outlet/organization | url=URL to press article | date=Date on the form YYYY-MM-DD | quote=Quote | archiveurl= The URL of an archived copy of the page, if (or in case) the url becomes unavailable. Typically used to refer to services like [[WebCite]] and [[Archive.org]]. | archivedate= Date when the item was archived. Should not be wikilinked. | accessdate= Full date when item was accessed on the form YYYY-MM-DD. Should not be wikilinked. }}
An optional unnamed parameter allows you to customize the name of the link to Wikipedia:Press coverage. For example, it may be more accurate to read "mentioned unfavorably", in case the original article becomes unavailable.
The |subject=
parameter is optional and will display "this article has been mentioned...". Set |subject=template
to display "this template has been mentioned..." and so on.
Use |collapsed=yes
for a collapsed default display. To include additional sources, affix a number greater than 1 (2, 3, etc.) to additional parameters. Up to 20 sources can be added to the template.
