List of Coronation Street characters (2019)
Should someone make a List of Coronation Street characters (2019)? I can see it hasn't been created yet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.96.186.200 (talk) 12:58, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
- @2.96.186.200: Page created - List of Coronation Street characters (2019) -- Jordan 1972 (talk) 16:23, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
- The page has no substantial content, no sources and is not in the format of a list of characters (year). Soaper1234 - talk 17:31, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Jordan 1972: I think you should have created the article in your userspace or as a draft first, so that it wasn't just left as an unsourced list of names. You, and those who wanted the page, should thank Soaper1234 for improving it and saving it from being deleted. - JuneGloom07 Talk 23:33, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks -- I don't need the lecture on how to work in WP... also, it was "saved" from being deleted after he/she was the one who nominated it for deletion. The fact the speedy deletion was denied and it was significantly updated within hours shows that it was appropriate to create the article even in its imperfect form. It was requested by two other users, one of who couldn't have created it and the other who expressed specific unease about creating it; we are 3.5 months into the year already and there is a list article for every other year since the show started. Perhaps if the list had been allow to exist in its form, one of the two people who requested it (which is why I pinged them), would have made the improvements that Soaper1234 did in a reasonable amount of time, and without some of the drama and finger-wagging that happened. In the end, the article is there and we can all move forward. -- Jordan 1972 (talk) 17:12, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you JuneGloom07. You cannot rely on other user's movements Jordan 1972 and the article should not be created without any real prose and expansion. It doesn't matter how far into the year we are; if there isn't enough information etc., an article shouldn't be created. I had already been working on some sort of an article, hence why I could expand the article fast, but that was never guaranteed. Anyway, like you say, let's leave it there now. Unexplained removal of regular characters
Why are certain regular characters being moved to recurring? Vicky, Natalie and Jan have all been confirmed to be regular - Vicky's actress Kerri Quinn is still filming regularly (a fan photo was even taken with her outside the studio only this week) and is presumably going to become involved with Robert, and both Natalie / Jan's long-running storylines have been confirmed. Jan will be in tonight's episode (Friday 19th April), all six of both next week and the week after - and that is before the human trafficking storyline really gets going. Connorguy99 (talk) 13:39, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
- I moved these characters based on what I believed they were. I was under the impression they were all recurring characters, but I may be wrong. Vicky stopped appearing after Amy's pregnancy story, but has now returned for another story. I'm not sure this quite indicates her status as a regular cast member? Natalie appears to just be part of the David/Nick story and not a regular character, rather just here for the story, but again, I may be wrong. With Jan, I'm torn as he seems to be Eileen's new love interest and is involved in the new slavery story, but we've had no announcement/casting details from him, uncommon from the show. Overall, to me, Jan is the only one I could consider a new regular. Soaper1234 - talk 13:51, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
- @JuneGloom07, ThisIsDanny, Jordan 1972, and Gardenshed95: Just going to ping some other editors to get more opinion. Soaper1234 - talk 13:51, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
- The majority of those editors have a history of agreeing with you... despite being faced with facts. Connorguy99 (talk) 14:27, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
- Jan is undeniably a regular, and it has been announced that he will actually move onto the street in upcoming episodes, also Natalie now works on the street as part of the new barber shop and it has been announced that she will begin to grow close to David (which causes problems for him and Shona) this shows that she is being given storylines beyond just the Nick/David money scandal. And as I have explained Vicky's actress is still known to be regularly filming for the show. Connorguy99 (talk) 14:31, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry, I just pinged editors who have recently edited Coronation Street articles. Feel free to ping some other users too. Soaper1234 - talk 15:20, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
I think until it’s confirmed by the show they are regulars they should remain as recurring characters Gardenshed95 (talk) 15:36, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
A lot of mystifying behaviour regularly occurs on these soap articles. There are EastEnders characters who have been around for 4/5 years and involved in heavy story who still don't have their own character pages whilst a relative newcomer like Callum Highway does.
The quads
Might be a bit pedantic, but do we know for certain that they have the surname Brown? As their parents aren't married, they could have their mother's surname, or even a combination of both..... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 10:27, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
The boy are brown and the girls are winter read into it more next time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.145.94.68 (talk) 10:39, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
Page vandalism
Someone has vandalized the page and one of the sources has been removed, the one for Michelle leaving. I don't suppose someone can retrieve it.77.97.55.147 (talk) 20:28, 24 November 2019 (UTC)
That is bad news. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.145.94.68 (talk) 10:22, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
Diana Bailey
No sign of Diana Bailey being introduced at all in 2019 (or beyond). I think that this character should be removed from the future characters section, and the list of 2019 characters page until it is officially confirmed when she will be making her appearance. There isn't even any casting news. Connorguy99 (talk) 14:46, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- As nobody else had anything to add I am removing the character from the "future" section. No casting news or arrival date, just an off-handed comment that they intended to introduce the character at some point. Connorguy99 (talk) 20:17, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
Sophie Webster
Never once did Brooke Vincent reveal an immediate intention to return after her maternity leave - in fact messages from her colleagues suggest that she wont be returning, with Sally Dyenvor commenting that she is "welcome back any time". This is opposed to someone like Julia Goulding who expressed right from the start that she was returning after maternity leave. Also, Brooke Vincent's contract expired this month. It is a situation similar to Helen Flanagan's exit in 2018, we simply assumed that she would return after her maternity leave - she never did. Therefore I have removed Sophie due to Brooke's contract having ended, and the fact that we've never had solid confirmation that she is returning. Connorguy99 (talk) 12:18, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
- In this source from the Sun (which I understand is no longer considered a valid source on this site, but there are several other sources confirming it) it is made very clear that Brooke Vincent is not returning to the show anytime soon.
- "CORONATION Street bosses have given star Brooke Vincent “as long as she needs” to DECIDE whether or not she returns to the famous cobbles."
- "Her 12 month running contract for the show will expire in May."
- "Bosses have told her she can return to the soap whenever she wants - although she’s yet to give any indication of a return date."
- "Sources say an improved deal will be on the table IF she decides to return to her role as Sophie Webster."
- “The door has been left open for her at any point in the future, whenever that might be.”
- All of this goes to show that she has left the show and has no current intention to return and therefore, as she is no longer under contract, she is not a current character. This is the exact same situation as Helen Flanagan, who was never confirmed to have left permanently. Connorguy99 (talk) 14:50, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
There is this recent article from Digital Spy that quotes a spokesperson saying that I is not leaving the show, just that it won't be immediately like Goulding, so she will eventually return, unlike Flanagan.
Also, the Corona virus shutdown may also be a factor. Someone needs to contact ITV or Corrie with the question as to her Status on the Street. Anyhow, I just found this article and wanted to share. In my opinion, there has to be some sort of consensus when it comes to situations like this where the status is murky, if you know what I mean. 160.32.214.75 (talk) 23:18, 9 May 2020 (UTC) samusek2
- In other words the EXACT same wording for Kym Marsh's exit? As said in the Sun article the show bosses are desperate to keep her, but her contract has ended and she has no plans to return at any time in the near future - so why would she still be on the current character list? Connorguy99 (talk) 00:35, 10 May 2020 (UTC)
- Just to add, I think it is worth remembering that The Sun is considered an unreliable source (see WP:THESUN). Soaper1234 - talk 10:23, 10 May 2020 (UTC)
- Probably good that I added it in the first line then. Connorguy99 (talk) 12:17, 10 May 2020 (UTC)
- The only site saying that her contract has expired is WP:THESUN. No other sources have explicitly said that, other than The Sun. So how do we know it has? Also, if a spokesperson has said she isn't leaving, then we assume she's not leaving. We don't have ANY grounds to say she's left the programme, especially given the circumstance of a pandemic. Remove her when we have a WP:RS saying she is not returning at all, otherwise it's all hearsay and assumption. – DarkGlow (talk) 15:05, 10 May 2020 (UTC)
- Where has a spokesperson said she is not leaving? Literally that Digital Spy article has everything you need to know to confirm her departure. Digital Spy claimed that a spokesperson "denied that Vincent's contractual status means she is leaving the cobbles" but if you actually bother to read the comment you can see that nowhere is this stated and is completely made up by DS. In fact the spokesperson says "there is no pressure for her to RETURN" and "the door has been left open for her at any point in the future". Both of those comments confirm that she is currently no longer part of the show, and that latter comment is exactly the same thing said about Kym Marsh's permanent exit. Connorguy99 (talk) 15:44, 10 May 2020 (UTC)

Page Vandalism
The page has been severely vandalized. Can someone please fix the damage or undo it?81.99.69.50 (talk) 18:40, 25 July 2020 (UTC)

Someone undid all of the hard work of putting all of the actors in :( could this be restored? Also, could this page be protected? DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 01:56, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
- @DaniloDaysOfOurLives: I've restored it as I added the actors initially. And, the page is pending changes protected at the moment, but if vandalism continues, I'm going to ask it to be protected more to stop the vandalism all together. – DarkGlow (talk) 20:09, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
I think it should be protected more, just like the USA soap opera pages - random users keep undoing all the work DaniloDaysOfOurLives 20:31, 27 July 2020.
