:::Alright, nice to know. The title should probably have "soul" uncapitalized though, to be consistent with other music genre articles. ObserveOwl (chit-chat • my doings) 21:18, 4 January 2024 (UTC) |

: Anderson Paak’s Malibu begins with his gospel-raised voice and, less frequently, a rambling rap style honed alongside subterranean crews like (the sadly defunct) Hellfyre Club; and then rambles across crate-digger beat loops and pimp-ish brags. His persona seems more rooted in indie hip-hop, at least for those unfamiliar with indie-soul predecessors like Sa-Ra Creative Partners Atmospherpolyphonic (talk) 21:45, 4 January 2024 (UTC) |

The same statements you made on my talk page about the term just meaning "independent" soul can be applied to the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indie_rock |
|||
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indie_folk |
|||
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indie_electronic |
|||
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indie_pop |
|||
So did you mark those for deletion? No. |

But the fact is they are a different genre vs Label rock, folk, electronic, and pop. Because they developed on their own trajectories. And artists who identify, of which there are a tremendous amount of major artist are a distinct genre in each, including this. Indie soul is referenced consistently on all major media, in every music publication of note, and on playlists and curation at all major music services, and in google search lists it as a music genre. It is not niche. I believe that an appropriate information page ads to the diversity of wikipedia. You already tried to speedy delete saying "I made it up" and got immediately rebuffed by a moderator. And now have again marked it for deletion. I think it is something you are unfamiliar with but serves the mission of wikipedia to provide knowledge particularly when and without any question has the appropriate note and notability readily available and is a significant part of many communities. A simple google would tell you that. |

This article should not be speedy deleted as being about a subject that was invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally and for lack of asserted importance, because... (You must be unfamiliar it is a very common style and term, of which I happen to love and have listened to for 20 years. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/lindsay-lou-billy-strings-queen-of-time-1234919917/ https://www.reddit.com/r/rnb/comments/15b2430/indie_soul_and_rb/ https://www.pbs.org/show/indie-soul-journeys/ https://www.last.fm/tag/indie+soul/artists https://www.chosic.com/genre-chart/indie-soul/ https://everynoise.com/engenremap-indiesoul.html) --Atmospherpolyphonic (talk) 20:50, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- Indie music (disambiguation) tells me that neo soul can be called "indie soul". Is it the same topic as this article? ObserveOwl (chit-chat • my doings) 21:10, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- There is a clear distinction in the soundsscapes of the two Neo-soul is more traditional soul music that has been modernized, whereas Indie soul has a broader spectrum of Rock, Funk, Hip-Hop. Atmospherpolyphonic (talk) 21:13, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
