Sven Bärtschi (born October 5, 1992) is a Swiss ice hockey player who is currently playing for the Portland Winterhawks of WHL,[1][2] and is considered to be one of the top performing rookies in the league.[3] He has been projected as a first round NHL draft pick for June 2011.[4][5][6][7][8]
Bärtschi was the seventh pick overall in the June 2010 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.[9]Before he departed to North America in mid-2010, he played one winter for SC Langenthal in the Swiss National League B,[10] and the Swiss top-tier SC Bern tried to recruit him.[3] He also played on the Swiss under-18 national team in 2009 and 2010.[11] His father once played Swiss professional hockey.[10]
Bärtschi was born and raised in Langenthal, Switzerland.[12]
