Small Planet Airlines Cambodia was[1] the Cambodian subsidiary of Small Planet Airlines based at Siem Reap International Airport.
History
Small Planet Airlines Cambodia is the name of Small Planet Group's Cambodian subsidiary, created as a joint-venture to reduce the effects of seasonality on its business that offers holiday charters through its European bases. In October 2017, Small Planet has been granded an air operator's certificate by the Cambodia's State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) to establish a Cambodian carrier based at Siem Reap. Small Planet Airlines Cambodia planned to operate leisure flights from Siem Reap to destinations in South Korea and China with plans for further Asian countries such as Thailand and Japan.[2]
The airline completed its first demonstration flight from Siem Reap on 23 September 2017. Small Planet Airlines was granted an air operator's certificate in October 2017 to operate flights using Cambodia as a regional hub.[3] It commenced operations on 30 November 2017 with its first flight from the capital Phnom Penh to Siem Reap.[4]
As of 9 November 2018, the airline suspended all operations.[1][5] In the weeks prior, its sister companies in Poland and Germany also ceased operations due to financial difficulties.
Destinations
As of November 2018, the airline did no longer operate scheduled services from its base at Siem Reap International Airport in Siem Reap.[6] Previously it served Phnom Penh and Preah Sihanouk from there on a regular basis.
