Sequencing.com is an online application platform for genomics and biotechnology software. The platform allows people to store their genetic data and find apps to convert that DNA data into useful, valuable and understandable information[1][2].
Sequencing.com is the world’s largest app store for apps that analyze genetic data and offers a variety of apps which can be used for many kinds of disease screening, wellness optimization, personalization and much more[3][4].
History
The company was founded by Brandon Colby MD as he wanted people to be able to obtain lifelong benefits from their genetic information[5].
Sequenicng.com provided a platform which can store and interpret genetic data. It provided a universally compatible platform for third-party app developers; third-party developers of software that analyzes genetic data were facing the issue of compatibility of their software for the many different formats of data. The company initially started with 25 apps and now has 27 apps. This includes apps developed by third-party app development companies.
The company has two-part structure i.e. it provides free,HIPPA-complaint storage for genomic data and provides a marketplace of apps that run on genomic data so a layperson with no knowledge of genomics can understand their genomic data[6].
Description
Sequencing.com is the world’s first app store for genetic data. In simple words is it is a community for people who have genetic data and want to turn that data into valuable information. The data obtained from any genetic testing laboratory or personal genomics company like; Illumina, Wuxi NextCODE, 23andMe, Ancestry.com, National Geographic's The Genographic Project, My Heritage and Family Tree DNA, can be used on the platform because the apps at the platform are universally compatible with all data regardless of the source[7].
App Marketplace
Sequencing.com provides an online marketplace where developers of apps that process genetic data can sell their apps. The platform has more than 25 apps that include apps developed in-house by Sequening.com as well as apps developed by third party app development companies[8]. LifeNome, Toolbox Genomics, and Titanovo have sold their apps in the Sequencing.com’s app market[9][10][11]. Concierge Medicine Today and Evidenza have partnered with the company[12][13].
