The '''P207''' is a mechanical pencil built by [[Pentel]]. It has a 7 mm bore for lead, and is used primarily as a draft pencil. |
== Construction == |
The barrel is constructed out of blue plastic. The Length is approximately 11 cm. at the tip of the barrel is a 1.7 cm cap tipped with a 4mm tube; constituting a 2.1 cm head. 1.5 cm from the end of the pencil, a silver clasp is attached, but it can be modified. The pencil is capped with a 2 cm silver cap. The internal mechanism is 12.5 cm long and is constructed out of brass and black plastic. The internal mechanism is held inside the barrel by screwing in the top to the tip. Thus, most of the pencil can be broken down for cleaning. |
== Advantages == |
The P207 is a step above most mechanical pencils. Thus, it offers smoother writing. It is also a drafting pencil, and is preferred among engineers and draftsmen. The metal construction and the ability for it to be cleaned give it a lifespan longer than most pencils. Also, its ability to accept parts from other P20# line gives the owner the ability to replace broken components or change the diameter of the lead used. |
== Disadvantages == |
The P207 is more expensive than other pencils, and thus losing it results in a greater loss. The lack of a grip can also lead to irritation if used for extended periods of time. The tip can also become loose with writing, and occasionally the pen must have maintenance. |
== Variations == |
The P207 is part of the P20 family. Other variations include the P205 and the P209; equipped with 5 and 9 mm mechanisms. However, since the mechanisms are interchangeable, the owner may equip a P205 barrel to use 7 or 9 mm lead. |
