The next Israeli legislative election may come as soon as September 2019, due to the failure of negotiations between the prime minister and a number of potential coalition partners.[1] On May 28, 2019 the Knesset passed on a "first reading" a dispersion bill which would dissolve the body and force a snap election[2]

AS of 27 May 2019, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has until 29 May to form a government (unless a two-week extension is given by President Reuven Rivlin). If Netanyahu is unable to form a government by the deadline, new elections will be held.[3]
