Mikael Höglund (born 15 May 1962) is a Swedish bass player best known for his contributions to the rock bands Great King Rat and Thunder.
Höglund began playing the bass guitar at the age of 14, starting his musical journey with a local band called Tryckvåg. In 1990, he became a member of the band Great King Rat, which released two albums before disbanding in 1992.
In 1993, Höglund joined Thunder, taking over the role of the original bassist, Mark Luckhurst. He played a significant role in the band's 1995 album "Behind Closed Doors," which achieved commercial success. Additionally, he made appearances on Thunder's live albums, namely "Live Circuit," "Their Finest Hour...and a bit," and "Live at the BBC."
Mikael Höglund left Thunder in 1996 to explore other musical endeavors. Since then, he has collaborated with various bands, including Airstream, Jekyll & Hyde, Alfonzetti, Audiovision, and Beautiful Grey.
