This article includes the album discography of Michael Jackson. Listed are all the albums in order of their release. Included are RIAA certifications, BPI certifications, SNEP certifications, IFPI Germany certifications, CRIA certifications, ARIA certifications, NVPI certifications, AMPROFON certifications, IFPI Sweden certifications, IFPI Switzerland certifications, ZPAV certifications, IFPI Hong Kong certifications, IFPI Austria certifications, IFPI Finland certifications, RIANZ certifications, NFPP certifications, with relative and worldwide sales figures. No official tracking system exists to track worldwide sales. Not all the certifications of the associations were launched in 1958 like RIAA (ARIA launched Gold & Platinum Awards in 1983, ZPAV in 1995, etc.), so some albums published before the launch of such awards in a country do not have certifications. Other associations like RIAJ and BPI certify only the albums that were published after the launch of the Awards.
The US Certifications are linked to the RIAA database,[1] the UK Certifications are linked to the BPI database,[2] the French Certifications are linked to the InfoDisc database,[3] an article of Tele Satellite & Numerique,[4] the Michael Jackson Official French Site database[5] and SNEP database,[6][7][8] the German Certifications are linked to the IFPI Germany database,[9] the Canadian Certifications are linked to the CRIA database,[10] the Australian Certifications are linked to the ARIA database[11][12][13] and Julien's Auctions Catalogue,[14][15] the Netherlands Certifications are linked to the NVPI database[16] and de Megaman blog,[17] the Mexican Certifications are linked to the Eil database (a famous collectionist shop site)[18] and AMPROFON database,[19] the Swedish Certifications are linked to the IFPI Sweden database,[20][21][22][23][24] the Swiss Certifications are linked to the IFPI Switzerland database[25] and Julien's Auctions Catalogue,[26] the Poland Certifications are linked to the ZPAV database,[27][28][29] the Hong Kong Certifications are linked to the IFPI Hong Kong database,[30][31][32][33] the Austrian Certifications are linked to the IFPI Austria database,[34] the Finlandian Certifications are linked to the IFPI Finland database,[35] the New Zealand Certifications are linked to the RIANZ official book[36][37] and Radioscope database and the Russian Certifications are linked to the 2M-online database.[38][39][40]
There are also IFPI Platinum Europe Awards Certifications. Only albums that were published from 1 January 1994 on are eligible. The albums released prior to 1 January 1994 are elegible only if they are re-released on or after 1 January 1994, but the sales won't include the original edition and refer to actual retail sales and not shipments to trade. These awards include: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom.[41]
There are also IFPI Middle East Awards Certifications, that count only the physical sales of an album of a artist that signed with a record company outside Middle East, but must be released on or after 1 July 2008. These awards are divided into Gulf Cooperation Council (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE) and Lebanon.[42]
Note that in some countries such as Germany and Mexico, the value of the awards is changed with the time and the criteria of the certifications depends by year of the release of the album. Furthemore, in the United States the double-discs with a lenght of at least 100 minutes are counted double (or more, if there are more CDs in the package).
