"Merry Crisis" or "Merry Crisis and a Happy New Fear" is an Internet meme that was occasionally used (in ironic sense) instead of "Merry Christmas" during the Christmas season of 2008. The "Crisis" refers to the financial crisis of 2007-2008.
The slogan was popularized during the 2008 Civil Unrest in Greece [1] and has its origins with the cover of Vavel Magazines's 2007 Christmas special, which bore the phrase "Merry Crisis and a Happy New Fear."Cite error: The <ref>
tag has too many names (see the help page).. The phrase, as it appeared in Athens during the riots was created by an Athenian collective known as THE ERASERS. This phrase as well as other propaganda can be found on their blog [2].
