Mathieu Amiot, Sieur of Villeneuve, was the son of Philippe Amiot and Anne Convent; b abt 1629 d. 18 Nov. 1688 at Quebec. He had acquired a number of properties:
- In 1649, Governor Louis d'Ailleboust granted him land in Trois-Rivières.
- His marriage to Marie Miville brought her a dowry property In 1661.
- In 1665, granted by Jean Juchereau de Maur to Mathieu Amiot in the seigneury of Maur measuring twelve arpents of land abreast twenty acres deep located four acres above Pointe Villeneuve and eight arpents below down to Quebec. [2] [3] He would have enlarged this property in 1677 and 1685.
- On November 3, 1672, Talon had granted to him in fief and seigniory another domain at Pointe-aux-Bouleaux. [4]
- On April 16, 1687, concession increased.
He had been granted letters of nobility but failed to register them prior to Louis XIV had abolished all the titles not yet registered.[1]
