Martin Sellner (born January 8, 1989, Vienna) is an Austrian activist, student, and leader of the "New Right"[1] Identitarian Movement of Austria (German: Identitäre Bewegung Österreichs, IBÖ).[2][3][4]
In his youth Sellner was part of the Austrian militant Neo-Nazi group that formed around Gottfried Küssel.[5] He says today, that he was in that time in an "pubertal phase".[6]
Sellner is currently studying Philosophy und Laws in Vienna.[7]
In April 2016, he disturbed a theatre-performance of Elfriede Jelinek's piece "Die Schutzbefohlenen" (theatre-performance with refugees) backed by around 30 members of his organisation, where fake blood was spilled. The blood should symbolize the "blood of Bataclan and Brussels" [8] In February 2017, Sellner stated being attacked by hooded left-wing activists at a Vienna U-Bahn station.[9] He then drew his pepper spray gun on them.[10] Since this incident he is banned from carrying weapons.
