Revision as of 19:42, 17 February 2009
Louth-Meath is a former parliamentary constituency in Ireland, which was represented in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament or Oireachtas. Covering part the two counties of Louth and Meath, it existed from 1921 to 1923. It elected five Teachtaí Dála (TDs) to the Dáil, using the Single Transferable Vote method of proportional representation (PR-STV).
History
The constituency was created in 1921, under the Government of Ireland Act 1920, for the 1921 general election to the House of Commons of Southern Ireland, whose members formed the 2nd Dáil. It was used again for the 1922 general election to the 3rd Dáil
Louth-Meath was abolished under the Electoral Act 1923, and replaced by the two new constituencies of Louth and Meath
