London Buses route E8 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. The service is currently contracted to Metroline.[1]
History
Route E8 was introduced in 1990 to replace the discontinued section of the E1 between Ealing Broadway and Brentford.[2]
The route was introduced using Renault / Wright midi buses stationed at Hanwell Garage. When the garage closed they transferred to the new Greenford base. When the E-routes were tendered in 1997 E2 and E8 were transferred from Centrewest to Armchair at the Brentford garage, using new single doorDennis Dart SLF/Plaxton Pointers. When the contracts were renewed in 2002 these two routes' were upgraded to new dual-door low-floor Dennis Darts with Plaxton Pointer 2s with the Armchair's new livery and wheelchair access.[2]
The route was tendered again in 2009, with Metroline, as successor to Armchair, retaining the route from May 2009.[citation needed]
