King Loiyumba also known as Meidingu Loiyumpa is one of the most notable monarch in Kangleipak history. He is the founder of the Kangleipak state under a written constitution which is known as Loiyumba Sinyen[1]The shawl of Shaphee Lanphee is a special cloth which was used to be presented as rewards/awards by the Meitei Kings to the worthy warriors and Naga Chiefs of Manipur.A legend told is that one day a brave warrior of Khoisnam lineage was riding a horse by wearing the Shaphee Lanphee and it was noticed by the king and the king later on used to be present the beautifully woven cloth as rewards/awards to the worthy warriors and chiefs of KANGlEIPAK(Manipur)kingdom. This tradition continued and as a tradition the weaving of such kind of cloth was the work only for the Khoisnam lineage. Because of which, in the text of Loiyumba Silyen, King Loiyumba assigned the work of weaving the cloth Shaphee Lanphee[2] to the Khoisnam lineage. It is crystal cleared that the cloth remained in used since the time of Meidingu Loiyumba. “Roso Phishahanba” was appointed the head of weaving loisang(department) during the time of Meidingu Loiyumba. The Puya “Loiyumpa Silyen" or "Loiyumba Shinyen” [3]record names of royal weavers such as Naotam Phishapa, Ngangti Phishapa, Yangnu Phishapa, Heisu Naha Phishapa, etc.
