Karan Singh Grover (born 23 February 1982)[1] also known as KSG,[4][5] is an Indian actor and model who has appeared in a number of television shows including Dill Mill Gayye and Qubool Hai, as well as the Indian film Alone. Currently he is shooting for Hate Story 3 which is set to release 4th December 2015.[6]
Early life
Grover was born in New Delhi, India to a Punjabi Sikh family.[7] He has one younger brother.[8] When Grover was young his family moved to Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.[7] He did his schooling from Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and Later pursued a degree in Hotel Management from IHM Mumbai. He was also part of a band called the Thousand Decibels during his college days.[7] He then worked as a Marketing Executive in the Sheraton Hotel in Oman.[7]
Career
In 2004 he pursued a career in modelling and participated in the Gladrags Manhunt Contest and won the award of the mostMost popularPopular modelModel.[7] In 2013, Grover was featured at number 13 in Asia's top 50 Sexiest Men on the Planet list.,[9][10][11] Inrank 2014 he was featured at number 1212th in Asia's top 50 Sexiest Man on Planet list2014.[12] He has been featured multiple times in Times Top 50 mostMost desirableDesirable menMen list. In 2010, he was at number 24, 29 in 2011, 39 in 2012,[13] 18 in 2013,[14] and was listed number 19 in 2014.[15] Grover is also one of the highest paid Indian Television Actors.[16]
He began his television career with Balaji Telefilms' Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi on MTV India.[7][17] In 2007 Grover got the show Dill Mill Gayye, a medical youth drama.[18] The Times of India reported that Grover became an "instant hit" and a "teenage icon" therefore making the show have the best ratings on the channel STAR One.[19]Times of India also stated "TV heartthrob Karan Singh Grover's name is enough to explain the fan following that the actor enjoys. His sheer presence on the small screen is enough to drive his female fans crazy. The actor, who become a youth sensation as Armaan Malik in Dill Mill Gayye enjoyed all the attention...in the cult youth show."[20]
Whilst shooting for the show he also participated in a few reality shows, he hosted Zara Nachke Dikha,[17] contested and became a finalist in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (season 3)[21] and also participated in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi.[22] It was reported that Grover would routinely report hours late for the shoot of Dill Mill Gayye and that Cinevistaas Limited were planning to sue him to recover their losses.[23] Grover left the show for a while, but returned after 6 months.[24] The show ended on 29 October 2010.[25] Later he hosted a Channel V India show aftercalled 6Perfect monthsCouple.Cite error: The <ref>

On 29 October 2012, Grover returned to daily fiction with 4 Lions Films' Qubool Hai.[31][32] Grover was paid a hefty amount because of his "formidable female fan base."[16] Due to Grover's presence, the show made a grand entry into Indian television. Times of india wrote that "Karan Singh Grover..is making his comeback on television after almost two years in a daily soap. And it is no mean feat for the broadcaster as they would want to give the best possible time SLOT to his show, Qubool Hai."[33] The show gained popularity pretty early becoming the number 2 show of Indian Television.[34]
Grover was mobbed by the public during outdoor shoots of the show, once in Bhopal, for which the maker of the show Gul Khan (producer) told Times of India "He was mobbed literally. We were scared seeing the mammoth gathering. I told my unit to get extra security so that the shoot could be completed without any hindrance. Karan had to commute in a police car for security reasons."[35] and once in Rajasthan, which Times of India described as "soon as the obsessive female fans in Jaipur learned that Karan Singh Grover was shooting for the show in the vicinity, they thronged the location in tens of thousands and within minutes, crowded him like bees on a honeypot. The situation almost got out of hand when an overzealous female fan demanded to meet Karan in person and if she wasn't allowed, threatened to jump off Amer Fort where the crew was shooting."[36]
Personal life
Grover married actress Shraddha Nigam on 2 December 2008. The marriage ended in divorce after 10 months.[2][37][38][39][40] Grover married Jennifer Winget, his costar and friend from Dill Mill Gayye and Kasautii Zindagii Kay, on 9 April 2012.[3][41][42] In November 2014 Winget stated that she and Grover had separated.[41][43] Grover also stated through twitter about his impending divorce from Winget.[44]
