The 2014 Kansas gubernatorial election will take place on November 4, 2014, to elect the Governor of Kansas. Incumbent Republican Governor Sam Brownback is running for re-election to a second term[1] against Paul Davis, Minority Leader of the Kansas House of Representatives.[2]
History
On June 21, 2013, Governor Sam Brownback declared his intention to run for re-election.[1]
In mid September 2013, Paul Davis, Minority Leader of the Kansas House of Representatives, formally launched his campaign for Governor as a Democrat.[3] Davis named Jill Docking, businesswoman, former member of the Kansas Board of Regents and nominee for the U.S. Senate in 1996 as his running mate.[4]
On July 30, Tresa McAlhaney, Wyandotte County Libertarian Party Chair declared her intent to run for the office,[5] while Keen Umbehr, a lawyer, joined the race in late August, both running as Libertarians. [6]
