Belfast boxer born on the Shankill Road. Southpaw. Born in 1912 and died in hospital in 1987. Boxed on Belfast's Chapel Fields in prize fights organised by Clara Copley. Beat undisputed world flyweight champion Benny Lynch on points twice - on March 2 1936 at the King's Hall Belfast and again on June 2 1937 in front of 16,000 people in torrential rain at Parkhead, Celtic Football Club's home ground, Glasgow.[1]
Brother of fellow Belfast boxer Billy Warnock.
