Iğdır (Իգդիր in Armenian) is a city in eastern Turkey, close to the border with Armenia. It is located at around 39°55′7″N 44°2′47″E / 39.91861°N 44.04639°E. It is the capital of Iğdır Province. The name of the city is the name of a western Turkish clan (Igdiroglu) belonging to Uchok branch of Oguz Turks. Azeri dialect of Turkish is spoken by the majority of the inhabitants of the modern province.
