Flyer22 Frozen (talk | contribs) Revert WP:CONTENTFORK and poor sourcing; this topic is already covered at the Genderqueer article. Keep this up, and I will take this to WP:AfD just like I did Agender. |

An individual who is [[genderfluid]] is someone who's [[gender identity]] fluctuates, or is fluid, and therefore may change and vary between any number of gender identities, including but not limited to, [[male]], [[female]], [[agender]], [[bigender]], [[trigender]], gender-neutral, [[third gender]], [[genderqueer]], demiboy,demigirl or any other gender identity. <ref>http://gender.wikia.com/wiki/Gender_Fluid</ref>It is even possible for genderfluid individuals to identify as multiple genders at once. Their identity may shift often, including several times a day, and may be accompanied by [[gender dysphoria]]<ref>http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/19/alternating-gender-incongruity_n_1438911.html</ref>. People who are genderfluid oftentimes use [[gender neutral pronouns]], such as they/them or hir/hirs, or are comfortable with multiple different pronouns, such as both she/her and he/him. People may identify as genderfluid regardless of their genetic sex, whether that be female, male, or [[intersex]]. |
|||
Genderfluid tends to fall under the [[genderqueer]] umbrella, meaning that it falls under the possibilities of non-binary gender identities, or gender identities that are not male or female. Sometimes people who are genderfluid might take steps to change their body to look more [[androgynous]], or otherwise more like societal expectations of what a specific gender looks like. This may include surgery or hormone therapy. For instance, a genetically female person who identifies as genderfluid, may have "top surgery" or surgery to remove their breasts in order to look more androgynous or more masculine. Genderfluid people may oftentimes change their clothes from day to day to fit their changing gender. For instance, one day wearing stereotypically masculine clothes to fit how they are feeling, and the next wearing stereotypically feminine clothing. |

This identity has been described medically as "Alternating Gender Incongruity" in the paper Alternating gender incongruity: a new neuropsychiatric syndrome providing insight into the dynamic plasticity of brain-sex<ref>http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22364652</ref>. The article compares it to previous information gathered surrounding bigender, and goes over some of the possible mental and neurological changes occurring as gender changes. |
