Foxsports.com provides sports news, scores, sports statistics, sports and entertainment video, sports fantasy leagues and fantasy information. Launched in July 2001, it is a unit of Fox Interactive Media, which also includes other News Corporation online businesses, including MySpace, IGN Entertainment, Askmen.com, Rottentomatoes.com, Flektor and Photobucket, among others.
According to comScore Media Metrix, Foxsports.com is considered one of the top sports sites on the Web in unique visitors and pages viewed, along with competitors ESPN.com, Yahoo! Sports, CBSSports.com, and SI.com.[1]
Sports Coverage
Foxsports.com features main editorial sections dedicated to coverage of major professional and college sports, including but not limited to the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NASCAR, NCAA college football, NCAA college basketball, soccer, golf, tennis, and mixed martial arts. Additional sports covered on the site include boxing, IRL, Formula One, Champ Car, WNBA, horse racing, beach volleyball, rodeo, Rugby (UK) and Cricket (UK).
Content
FOXSports.com has many exclusive writers, including Jason Whitlock, Mark Kriegel, Ken Rosenthal, and Jay Glazer. A recent addition has been actor/comedian Jay Mohr, who also contributes a weekly video segment as well as a weekly written column.[2] Other content is provided by partners Foxsoccer.com, Scout.com and Whatifsports. The site underwent a site redesign in April 2007 with improved graphics, personalization features, and social networking capabilities.
MSN
In July 2004, FOXsports.com and Microsoft began execution of a multi-year agreement, which called for FOXSports.com to become the exlusive sports provider for Microsoft’s MSN.com portal, replacing ESPN.com.[3] As a result of the agreement, the site is often referred to as FOXSports.com on MSN. The multi-year agreement allows FOXox’s video clips of sporting events and interviews to be delivered via MSN Video.
