The Elmbrook School District has been criticized for its strict [[snow day]] policy. There have been days on which schools in the district have remained open despite inclement weather and poor road conditions. One incident was in December 2007, where Elmbrook Schools stayed open in the face of warnings from the sheriffs of both [[Waukesha]] and [[Milwaukee]] counties and the closings of virtually every other school district in Southeastern Wisconsin. The district received a lot of attention from the media and concerned parents. The district later apologized for keeping school open that day. Another snow day incident happened on December 9, 2009. After receiving over a foot of snow, it was the only school district west of MPS that did not get a a snow day, other than the New Berlin District. For a time in the morning, TMJ4 News and FOX6 News broadcasted the school district's closing, then changed it back to "open" ten minutes later. This is not the only time this has happened. <ref>[http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=695905 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel "Elmbrook plows on despite snow"]</ref> |

==David Marcello - Controversy and Scandal in Brookfield== |
|||
David Marcello has remained a figure of controversy during his time in public office. |

In 2003 David Marcello was charged with and plead guilty to battery assault against a minor.<ref>[ http://wcca.wicourts.gov/courtRecordEvents.xsl;jsessionid=EE8B325F2824D944701A1DDCA756A73C.render6?caseNo=2003CM000222&countyNo=40&cacheId=E4EBAE88BAFCC9DF9EF2949DDC321377&recordCount=2&offset=1&linkOnlyToForm=false&sortDirection=DESC]</ref>. The victim was a 14 year old boy. Dave Marcello has attempted to downplay his assault against a minor but he will most likely have to face the music of his actions during his run for mayor. During a 2008 interview about the incident, Marcello responded in this manner: "It's one of those things that should have been avoided and there were mistakes made on my part and there were mistakes made on the part of the kids," Marcello said. "Ultimately the court and the public agreed that there was nothing criminal about my behavior. <ref>[http://www.brookfieldnow.com/news/cninews/38922709.html]</ref>. This has been a controversial statement, as Marcello, now a member of a school board, felt the need to blame a minor for the incident. It was also claimed that Marcello harassed the victim and his family for months and even years after the incident occurred. |

In 2003, Marcello was found guilty of criminal destruction to property, an offense for which he was fined $132, after he and his son attempted to dispose of an old outhouse by stuffing it with leaves and starting it on fire, according to the Waukesha County court record.According to court documents, Marcello lost control of the fire, requiring a response from the city of Brookfield Fire Department. Marcello said it was a yard fire that got out of control.<ref>[http://wcca.wicourts.gov/caseDetails.do;jsessionid=829FD02D796CFF81D648F3B83BF5688E.render6?countyNo=67&caseNo=2003CM002845&cacheId=2DE0ACA58FBDF0073834BBCA3804C5E2&recordCount=3&offset=1&mode=charges]</ref>. |

The attorney who defended Marcello during both incidents has recently come under fire himself. According the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, David Marcello's attorney, Michael Stienhafel, was arrested twice for drunk driving in 2009. Once while defending another drunk driver in court and another time while driving his children. Both incidents occurred in the early afternoon. <ref>[http://www.jsonline.com/news/waukesha/68886767.html]</ref>. |

While these and other run-ins with the law have not yet surfaced during Marcello's campaign for mayor, they inevitably will. His primary is February 16th." |

David Marcello - Controversy and Scandal in Brookfield
David Marcello has remained a figure of controversy during his time in public office. In 2003 David Marcello was charged with and plead guilty to battery assault against a minor.[5]. [6].
