Windows Deployment Image Customization Kit is a console-based deployment tool that can handle Windows installation media (WIM) images, virtual disk images (VHDX), and create bootable USBs.[1]
Overview
Windows Deployment Image Customization Kit, or in short, WDI Customization Kit, provides a console-based software tool for IT professionals designed for deploying Windows disk images.[2] WDI Customization kit allows you to integrate and modify all software intended for Windows deployment. It also features simple disk partitioning and WIM to VHDX capabilities. [3]
The (applications, updates, and drivers) can be added to a list of appx, msu, cab, or custom packages. [4] Custom packages can be created within the tool for standard administrative procedures such as creating a username, unattended installation with product key integration, driver integration, DirectX setup, MSI installation, modifying boot timeout, firewall rule integration, or nearly any other console-based operation via customizable packages. Modification of (appx, components, features, services, and tasks) can be added to a list for enabling, disabling, and removal. Most standard DISM operations are supported. The tool features a Windows PE (Preinstallation Environment) that supports scripted pre-boot operations such as automating disk image restoration upon reboot.
