Al Batinah International School (مدرسة الباطنة العالمية) is a non-profit,[1] international, private International Baccalaureate (IB) school in Sohar, Oman.[2] It has approximately 358 students and 40 teaching staff. It is one of Oman's 34 international schools and has been in operation since 2007.[3] The school offers education from kindergarten through grade twelve and is an accredited member of the Council of International Schools (CIS).[4] It is jointly owned by Sohar Aluminium and OQ. (formerly known as Orpic.)

History
Al Batinah International School was established in 2007 by Sohar Aluminum. Then recently created, they decided to found Al Batinah International School to provide education for expatriate families moving to the area. In 2010, the school became authorized to offer the inquiry-based PYP (Primary Years Programme) program of the International Baccalaureate. The IB Diploma Programme and MYP Programme (Middle Years Programme) were both added in 2013 and 2020, making ABIS an IB Continuum World School. In 2015 ABIS started construction of a major expansion & refinement of its facilities that ended in 2018.[5]
