Dominic Lam is known in Hong Kong as an entrepreneur and an artist.
Biography
He was born in Swatow, grew up in Hong Kong. He studied under two Nobel Laureates at Harvard Medical School before joining the Harvard Faculty and subsequently became Professor of Ophthalmology and Chairman of Center for Biotechnology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.[1]
Timeline
- In 1989, Lam became the founding director of Hong Kong Institute of Biotechnology and received the U.S. High Tech Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He was also appointed a member of the U.S. President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, and received a Presidential Medal of Merit.
- In 1991, Lam was named “Asia Society Man of the Year”.
