College
He currently plays for the University of Memphis Tigers under coach John Calipari. As a freshman he led his #1 seeded Tigers to the 2008 NCAA Men's Final Four, and to the NCAA Championship Game. However, they lost to the University of Kansas in a 75-68 overtime game.
Personal
Rose attended Beasley Academic Center for elementary school, and Simeon Career Academy in Chicago, Illinois. His AAU team was the Mean Street Express.
Rose goes by the nickname “Pooh”, his grandmother called him that as a baby because he was chubby and yellow like Pooh Bear. Tattooed on Rose’s left bicep, is a wizard holding a staff in one hand, a basketball in the other and framed by the words “The Great Poohdini.” He owns two state championship rings. His combination of size, athleticism and passing ability have drawn comparisons to NBA superstars such as Dwyane Wade and Jason Kidd. If he decides to enter the 2008 NBA Draft, he is expected to be a top 2 pick. According to Memphis coach John Calipari, Rose has a very unhealthy diet. Before games, he frequently eats a box of Frosted Flakes with no milk, yet still is able to perform well.
