The December 2009 Telangana Rising started on November 29, 2009 when Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao was arrested at Algunoor, Karimnagar district, India with two of his supporters.[1] All sections of the population (students,women,government officials,journalists,doctors,lawyers and other intelligentsia, teachers and professors of colleges,small business owners.) participated in this movement.[citation needed] The movement was done in the form of relay fasts and rallies.[citation needed] All the student associations irrespective of their political affiliations took part in the mass agitations throughout the Telangana movement.[citation needed]
Arrest of Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders
Following the arrest of KCR at Algunoor, other TRS leaders like Harish Rao, took up the fast in Siddhipet but they were dragged away and arrested by the police.[2]
