* Please be aware about Devry's long list of complaints. A speacial category is going to be created and should be created to properly document the abuses perpetrated against, employees, and students and other stakeholders by the basically the same management philosphy of Devry and other many similar so-called educational private institutions on many campuses throughout the US and Canada, especial in these last 10 years. --[[User:Codeplowed|Veritas Longa]] 00:31, 20 March 2007 (UTC) |

DeVry University is a for-profit system of full and part-time career colleges and technical colleges in the United States and Canada offering a variety of Associate's degrees, Bachelor's of Science degrees at the undergraduate levels up through Master's degrees, and whose programs are generally geared toward persons already in the work force. The school is operated by the publicly held corporation DeVry Inc.(NYSE: DV) and traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
The university operates on a trimester course schedule and, if taken full time year round, a person can graduate with a Bachelor's degree in about three years (depending on the major).
The main difference of accreditation standards in this tier level of higher education is a de-emphasis on a broad base of study in the traditional liberal arts with lesser emphasis on research training with a tighter focus on pragmatic and experiential based skills including early hands-on training in career-specialty areas of study such as computer or electronics engineering technology, business administration with technical specialties, computer information systems, and network administration. Degrees are typically offered at both a junior college / community college level (i.e. two year Associate's degree) and as a four year bachelor's degree; these typically have an unusual appearing suffix compared to mainline degrees such as for example the main BSEE compared to the career/technical college's BSEET degree. In addition, the institution offers various certificate programs such as for specific subfields in Information technology. DeVry also boasts a very robust online learning option.
DeVry University is fully accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (4) and is a member of the North Central Association of the Higher Learning Commission, with a majority of its engineering technology programs accredited through ABET the recognized U.S. accreditor of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology. The same entity accredits technical programs at the traditional institutions listed in the introduction.
Its main programs of study (and degrees) are business administration (BSBA), computer engineering technology (BSCET), electronics engineering technology (BSEET), network and communication management (BSNCM), and other technology (biomedical engineering technology, bioinformatics) related studies. In addition, they have recently formed a biomedical technology department in conjunction with the extant nursing programs. Other offerings include business, office management, and health information technology specialties.
