David Pearce (died 2007-10-09) was an Australian soldier from the 2nd/14th Light Horse Regiment, who was killed while serving in Orūzgān Province, Afghanistan.[1][2]. He was the second Australian to be killed in the War in Afghanistan,[3] and the third to be killed since the Vietnam War. He had been in the regular army for 15 months, and was 42 years of age at the time of his death.
Pearce was driving a light armoured vehicle when an improvised road-side explosive device detonated, killing him, and injuring a passenger. He was part of the Operation Slipper Reconstruction Task Force.
Pearce originally joined the Australian Army Reserve in 2002, and transferred to the Australian Regular Army in July 2006. During his time in the Army Reserve, he also served in the Solomon Islands.
