Dane Rauschenberg (born May 31, 19760 is an amateur athlete who became only the third person ever to successively run a certified marathon every weekend for a calendar year in 2006. Residing in Arlington, Virginia. He has:
- Won the 'Personal Endurance Classic' a 12 hour race in Erie, Pennsylvania (October 18,2003) where he broke the course record with 84 miles. The record still stands.
- Won the Inaugural Drake Well Marathon (December 23 2006) a marathon run on a high school track in Titusville, Pennsylvania.
- Won the 'PT Cruiser Challenge' an event consisting of a 5k, 15k and marathon all in 24 hours in Tampa, Florida (February 5, 6, 2005).
- Ran the fastest average time ever for 52 consectuive weekly marathons
Notably, Rauschenberg's attempt to be only the third person to ever run a certifed marathon every weekend in one calendar year was done to benefit the charitable organtiaon L'Arche, more directly the Mobile, Alabama chapter. Raising over '$34,000 to date (early January 2006, Rauschenberg is attemptingto raise $52,000 through his websiteFiddy2 while he continued to work full time as a licesning associate in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
Jurek was selected as UltraRunning Magazine's Ultrarunner of the Year in 2003, 2004, and 2005.
