Captûre Wines is a California wine producer of premium Bordeaux-style blends. Captûre Wines sources its fruit from estate-owned Tin Cross Vineyards, a 240-acre property purchased in 2008 by proprietors Mike and Carol Foster.[1]
The Captûre Wines winemaking facility is located in Healdsburg, California.[2] Tin Cross Vineyards is located in Cloverdale, California[1] where it sits on Pine Mountain in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley.[3]

Climate and soil
Pine Mountain's terrain consists of red clay loam and yellow brown shale.[1] It has been compared to the Oakville AVA in Napa Valley, but is higher in altitude as the vineyards lie from 1,600 to 2,450 feet above sea level.[1][5] This height causes climate patterns dissimilar from the Alexander Valley; Denis Malbec says it is "cooler than most North Cabernet Vineyards," and that for Bordeaux-style wines, "it's important to have a cooler climate, but Pine Mountain also doesn't suffer from fog like the Alexander Valley floor. It gets lots of light without heat."[1]
Geography
Pine Mountain lies on the western edge of the Mayacamas Mountains which stands over Alexander Valley. Tin Cross Vineyards resides on this mountain which overlooks Cloverdale to the west and Hopland, California to the distant north. Pine Mountain's peak is in Mendocino County while Tin Cross Vineyards rises along Pine Mountain where it borders between Sonoma and Mendocino Counties.[1]
History
The property was first planted to grape vines in 1855, making it one of the oldest vineyard properties in Sonoma County.[1] "Pine Mountain was included in Thomas Jefferson's Land Ordinance Act, and was granted to a Black Hawk War veteran for his service during 1832. In the late 1800s, the land served as a hideout for Black Bart,"[1] a bandit known for robbing Wells Fargo stagecoaches and leaving behind a poem.

Upon the acquisition of Tin Cross Vineyards in 2008, proprietors Michael and Carol Foster began the development of Captûre Wines,[1][3] a new winery which would focus on "classical Bordeaux-style wines 'through sustainable winegrowing and a disciplined attention to craft.'"[3] To build this vision of Captûre Wines, the Fosters sought out the experience of wine industry professionals.
Benjamin Sharp, who had worked directly for wine personality and Kendall-Jackson founder, Jess Jackson, was hired as the first president and CEO for Captûre Wines.[3] Sharp was joined by his wife, Tara, who had previously worked with Jess Jackson's Vérité and Lokoya[1]. Ms. Sharp is currently VP of Marketing for the winery.[1] To craft Captûre’s wines, the winery partnered with winemaking team May-Britt & Denis Malbec, formerly of Château Latour in Bordeaux, France.[1] Vineyard managers Glenn Alexander and Dave Komar were then engaged to farm and manage Tin Cross Vineyards & Estate, rounding out a team focused on sustainable and organic farming practices.[1]
Production
The vineyard area is planted with traditional noble grapes: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.[2] Annual production is 1,000 cases of wine.[1]
