Betty Harlafti is a Greek mezzo soprano singer [1]. She appeared as a soloist, working with various groups in a diverse repertoire encompassing modern classical, Greek composers, lyrical, traditional, rebetiko and retro music. She performs the classical repertoire in productions of the Athens Festival, the Athens Concert Hall and has sung at numerous tribute concerts, to Michalis Souyioul, Manos Hadjidakis, Mikis Theodorakis and others, in various venues in popular music halls like Parnassos Hall, Ianos and Half Note Jazz Club. Since winter 2012 she has been working with the prestigious in Greece Mikis Theodorakis' Popular and Lyric Orchestra[2][3] under the direction of the renowned composer and conductor alongside Maria Farantouri[4] and Dimitris Basis[5]. She regularly appears with the chamber music ensemble The Shakespeare Ensemble, interpreting songs written by the dramatist. During the winter of 2013 her personal album “Who may you be?” with songs by Michalis Souyioul was released [6][7].
She has attended master classes in singing in Greece and Germany, and has studied traditional and jazz singing, as well as advanced musical theory and classical singing amongst others with Michael Chance and Aris Christofellis. She holds the London College of Music Examinations Diploma in classical singing performance.
