Bangtan Boys (Korean: 방탄소년단, Romanized: Bangtan Sonyeondan, Translation: Bulletproof Boy Scouts) is a South Korean hip-hop boy group formed by Big Hit Entertainment. The group consists of 7 members. They debuted on June 12th, 2013 with the title "No More Dream". They are also known as BTS (an abbreviation for Bangtan Sonyeondan).
History
Pre-debut
J-Hope appeared on several music programs due to his feature in 2AM member Jo Kwon's single, Animal. The rest of the members (excluding Rap Monster and Jimin) also appeared in Jo Kwon's 'I'm Da One' music video. They were supposed to debut in 2010, but with members leaving the group, it was postponed. Rap Monster remains the only original member for the line-up of the group.
2013: Debut, 2 Cool 4 Skool
The first teaser was released on May 26th. The concept is hip-hop beat with a requisite deep voice over raps while the names of all but one of the seven-member group and what could very well be lyrics or song titles flash by.[1] After that, member V's first image teaser was released on June 2, 2013,[2] followed by members Jin, Jimin, and Jeongguk in the second image teaser on June 3, 2013,[3] and members J-Hope, Suga, and Rap Monster in the last image teaser on June 6, 2013.[4]
On June 6, Bangtan Boys released a tracklist for their debut mini album, "2 Cool 4 Skool"[5] and released a music video with the title "No More Dream" on June 12, 2013 through Big Hit Entertainment's official YouTube channel. They debuted in M! Countdownon June 13, 2013.
