Anthony "Sully" Sullivan (born 11 February 1969)[citation needed] is an British-born[1] United States-based television commercial and infomercial pitchman. He has advertised many products on TV including Swivel Sweeper: original, and G2, Taplight, and the Foodsaver, among others.
Early life
Born in Devon, England, Sullivan became passionate about demonstrating new problem solving inventions. Pitching products on the streets of London at a young age, he became the go-to guy for new products and developed a "Midas touch" street reputation that was second to none. [citation needed]
Career
In the early 1990s, infomercials were becoming a powerhouse medium and Sullivan made his way to the United States and teamed up with a manufacturing company to create what would be internationally known as the "Smart Mop". A few years later, he took that live on the Home Shopping Network (HSN). In the mid 1990s, HSN hired Sullivan as a Prime-Time network show host. In 1998, he left HSN and formed Sullivan Productions in Tampa, Florida. [citation needed]
With one goal in mind, to become the "new ideas" man, Sullivan began to bring exciting new products to people via television, as founder and CEO of Sullivan Productions. Sullivan has been featured on Televisions USA Network's "Eco-Challenge Fiji (2002)", "1 VS. 100", NBC, ABC, CBS, USA, BBC, Fox News, Rachael Ray, Good Morning America, The Today Show, Hollywood 411, Access Hollywood, Inside Edition, The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, and in the LA Times, New York Times, USA Today, St. Petersburg Times, Ad Age, Fortune Magazine, Playboy, and many other publications. [citation needed]
PitchMen
Sullivan starred in a Discovery Channel reality series PitchMen, alongside the late Billy Mays. The show followed the selection of products by the firm in association with DRTV giant Telebrands, the origins of the products and their inventors, the production of the advertising, and told the stories of the two men's careers.[2]
Sullivan and Mays appeared on the June 23, 2009 episode of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.[3]
On June 28, when asked about the death of his friend Billy Mays, Sullivan tearfully responded: "I really loved him. I think it's a huge loss for the Tampa Bay community and, um, I don't really know what to do."[4] During the special Pitchman: A Tribute to Billy Mays, Sullivan broke down in tears as he talked about his former partner and best friend saying,
I don't even want to try and pretend to fill Billy's shoes, he's my best friend, he's like a brother. Billy did burn twice as bright for half as long, and he did burn really bright. What's next for me is I have pull myself together, I have to pull the crew together, I gotta be strong and we gotta go on. You lit up my life. You lit up my life from the minute I met you, from the first time we worked together. I loved watching you work. I'm gonna miss you so much buddy. I'm gonna miss you saying 'Hi, Billy Mays here!', You don't know how much I'm going to miss that. You're like a brother to me, man. I love you, rest in peace.
