Williams was born in [[Burford, Shropshire|Burford]] in [[Shropshire]] in 1873 as '''Anna Davies'''. She married William Henry Williams, who died in 1954. On 5 June 1975, she voted in favour of retaining Britain's membership in the [[1975 United Kingdom European Communities membership referendum|referendum on Great Britain's EC membership]]. At the end of her life she lived at the Tuxedo Home for the Aged in Swansea in [[Wales]]. |

With the death of Mary McKinney on 2 February 1987, she became the oldest person in the world. She died 11 months later at the Tuxedo Home at the age of 114. She was succeeded as the oldest human by [[Florence Knapp (supercentenarian)|Florence Knapp]] and as the oldest European by [[Jeanne Calment]]. |
