Anjulie (born Anjulie Persaud;[6] 1983) is a Canadian singer and songwriter.
Biography
Early life
Anjulie was born and raised in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Her parents are from Guyana of Indian descent.[7][8][9] She is the youngest of four children.[9]
Music career
Anjulie is a self-described music addict and has been writing and composing her own music since she was a teenager. She wrote the song "Say Goodbye to Jr. High", contributed background vocals and played percussion for the CD Unfabulous and More. Her debut album was co-written and produced by Jon Levine of the Philosopher Kings.[10]
Anjulie opened for Jesse McCartney during his United States tour in 2009.[11][12] Her unreleased singles, "Rain", "Crazy That Way", and "The Heat" have been featured on the MTV television series The Hills[7] and "Addicted2Me" on The City.[12] The single "Boom" has been featured on ABC's Eastwick, The CW's Melrose Place,[13] The Vampire Diaries,[14][15] and Canada's Next Top Model.[16]
Anjulie wrote the single "Don't Call Me Baby" by Canadian recording artist Kreesha Turner which reached number eight on Billboard's Canadian Hot 100 in 2008 and number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play Chart.
Influences on Anjulie's music are as varied as Annie Lennox, Lauryn Hill, U2 and Prince.[4]

Anjulie has toured with Shwayze and Bobby Ray aka B.o.B.[20][21], toured Fall/Winter (2009–2010) with Raphael Saadiq,[15] and opened for Hedley.[22]
Anjulie is currently working on her latest international album that will include the tracks "White Lights", "Brand New Chick" and "Stand Behind the Music".[23] In 2011, "Brand New Chick" went Platinum in Canada.[24][25]

Chart performance
Released on August 4, 2009, Anjulie's self-titled CD reached number two on the US Billboard "Heatseekers Albums" chart and number 108 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.[28] The album's first single "Boom", released in 2008,[29] reached number one on the US Dance chart in 2009.[16][30] Remixes of follow-up "Love Songs" reached the Top 10 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Club Play charts in October 2009.[31]
"Rain" debuted on Billboard's Hot Dance/Club Play charts in November 2009 at number forty-eight.[32] After nine weeks on the chart it reached a peak of three.[33]
