The American Studies Association (ASA) is an organization founded in 1951 and that is devoted to the interdisciplinary study of American culture and history.[1]
The ASA includes 5000 individual members along with 2200 library and other institutional subscribers.[1] It publishes the American Quarterly at Johns Hopkins University Press.
2013 boycott of Israeli academic institutions
In 2013, the ASA endorsed a boycott of Israeli academic institutions. As a result of the boycott's curtailment of academic freedom, Kenyon College, Penn State Harrisburg, Brandeis University, and the Indiana University withdrew their membership.[2]
