At the same time he moved to Kirkük his Sheik Raza was leading the Naqshbandi branch around a 100 years before.
Because of Ali Askaris young age his stepmother moved with him to Kirkük where they started a new life and made new friends. Within a few years Ali Askari managed to bring young Kurdish students together to become members of the Kurdish student movement of Kirkük.
At the age of 17 Ali Askari became a member of Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP). After finishing high school Ali Askari applied for Military College and Civil-engineering College, but KDP asked him to move to Mosul and become KDP’s representative so he never went to College.
The Kurdish revolution started the 11th of September 1961 and Ali Askari was asked to command the liberation of Zaxo, Duhok and the rest of the Bahdinan region, all this with great success. Ali Askari was the youngest member of KDP’s leading staff.
Ali Askaris war strategies were later to become taught to students in Iraqi Military College.
Ali Askari was later asked to protect the Barzan region from the Iraqi regime; this was also done with success.
Under the 1960’s Ali Askari developed to be one of the most influential and important military leaders. He led dozens of battles and commanded different Peshmarga groups.
1975 Ali Askari asked Mustafa Barzani to continue the fighting with the Iraqi regime but Barzani disagreed, so he decided to start a new revolution with a newly created party, Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).
1978 was to be his last battle, known as Shari Hakari (civil-war).
