The Taal Volcano once again erupted on January 12, 2020 with the Alert Level of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology escalating from Alert Level 2 to Alert Level 3 at evening PHL standard time (PST). It was an eruption from the main crater, and started erupting at 1pm and spewed ashes to some parts of Northern Luzon, including Metro Manila, which cancelled classes, work schedules and flights.
