The opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics will take place at Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi, Russia, on 7 February 2014, starting at 20:14 Moscow Time (UTC+4).[1] This will be the first Winter Olympics and first Olympic Games opening ceremony under the IOC presidency of Thomas Bach from Germany.[2][3][4]
Proceedings
The Olympic Oath on behalf of all athletes was Ruslan Zakharov, Vyacheslav Vedenin took the oath for all judges and Anastasia Popkova took the oath for all coaches.
The Russian pop duo t.A.T.u. is to perform in part of the opening day festivities.[5]
