I nominate {{noping|Cavalryman}} to be Editor of the Week for ... his tireless contributions and dedication to [[WP:WikiProject Dogs]], including the countless hours he has invested in research, adding sources, copy editing and working collaboratively to improve the quality of Wikipedia's dog articles. Editor of the Week is a recognition award to thank editors for excellent work, such as the following: |
|||
* Writing or significantly expanding articles on a regular basis. |
|||
* Cleaning up articles by, for example, adding sources, expanding citations with the necessary information, aligning prose with the manual of style, or improving the quality of the prose through copy-editing (such as making the text more concise and removing redundant wording). |
|||
* Serving as a notable voice of reason in discussions with other editors. |
|||
* Performing behind-the-scenes work, not normally seen by the general community. |
|||
The Editor of the Week recognition is intended to demonstrate appreciation of an editor's positive behaviours and collaborative spirit. Recipients aren't expected to be positively perfect in every way; if you encounter editors with sustained patterns of excellence, please feel free to nominate them! |
|||
Although editors of all levels of experience can be recognized, please consider nominating an unsung hero: someone less celebrated yet deserving of greater renown. Encourage typically unnoticed editors by giving them their day in the sun! |
|||
Please be as specific as possible in your nomination (links and diffs are welcome); recipients appreciate knowing the tasks and behaviours that you are recognizing! |
|||
Please do not use the editor's name in the section heading, link to the editor's user page, or otherwise ping the editor. |

This is the place to nominate someone for Editor of the Week recognition: an unsung hero who has been doing great work. To nominate an editor, with a 100–200 word description of how they meet the criteria for Editor of the Week. Please be specific in describing the tasks and behaviors you are recognizing, so nominees can fully appreciate the positive effects being acknowledged. Please do not use the editor's name in the section heading, link to the editor's user page, or otherwise ping the editor.
Please do not link to the nominee's user or talk page in the same edit as you add your signature!
Just type their name using plain text, or use {{noping}}, and we will replace it with Echo will inform them of their nomination and spoil the surprise. Also, please do not include the editor's name in the section heading because it will appear in watchlist notices. {{User10}} in a way that does not notify the nominee. |
Sample nomination text:
I nominate Easter Bunny for his persistent efforts in tidying up articles. Often editors will hurriedly introduce new information to an article, without placing a full citation, or with spelling and grammatical errors. Over the past four months, Easter Bunny has been fixing the edits of others, doing the tedious work of completing the citation information, copy editing the prose to resolve errors and to align it with Wikipedia's Manual of Style, and fixing links to other articles. Here are some examples: [1] [2] In addition, Easter Bunny has a great positive attitude in discussions with other editors: he always finds the most promising aspects of the comments of others, and follows up on them in trying to build a genuine consensus. Without willing editors to perform cleanup tasks, Wikipedia could not sustain its level of participation from one-time editors who just want to get in and out with their edits as soon as possible. Easter Bunny is a great example of a Wikipedia editor who improves the community through his excellent work! isaacl (talk) 03:58, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Gerda
True to her kind ways, Gerda has repeatedly declined nomination for this award, no matter how much we all think she deserves it!

I nominate Gerda Arendt to be Editor of the Week for two reasons. First of all, she is a dedicated content creator, particularly in the realm of classical music. I don't know whether she has kept an exact count of created articles and DYKs, but let's just say there's a lot of both. My second reason is that Gerda contributes a great deal of the kindness to the community through her ongoing efforts to encourage and recognize her fellow editors. Her long-term campaign of charity is detailed at Wikipedia:Precious. Thank you, Gerda! Lepricavark (talk) 16:09, 24 October 2017 (UTC)

- I would like to nominate "Yupik" because of their work associated with indigenous people, specifically the Sami. In addition to writing articles, this editor has uploaded images, and helped others understand the culture so that we get things right when we create or improve articles within this focus. They are also very active with Wikidata in this regard. Pinging @Ipigott and SusunW who might have more to say about this nomination. --Rosiestep (talk) 19:32, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
- Yupik has in fact worked more on the Sami and Finnish wikis than on the English version. I don't know if this can be taken into consideration under the EN nomination.--Ipigott (talk) 09:56, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- Since I'm here for the above nom, I'd like to chime in as well. I've learned more about indigenous people and how to write about them by seeing Yupik's own work and advocacy for their culture on Wikipedia. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:12, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

It is a delight to nominate Cthomas3 to be Editor of the Week. Tom is a gifted and dedicated contributor to the encyclopedia. His talent shines through in articles like Forest Reserve Act of 1891 (creation) and Lockheed F-104 Starfighter (extensive contributions). Tom is unfailingly kind and polite, and when he contributes to a discussion I am always sure that he will surface some insight I had not considered. As a clerk of the Arbitration Committee, Tom has also engaged with much of the maintenance work behind the scenes that keeps the encyclopedia working and has earned the praise of many of his colleagues.
