General information | |
Date(s) | June 25, 2015 |
Time | 7:00 PM ET |

Network(s) | ESPN |
The 2015 NBA draft will be held on June 25 in New York City at either the Barclays Center in Brooklyn or Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. It will be televised nationally by ESPN.
Eligibility and entrants
The draft is conducted under the eligibility rules established in the league's new 2011 collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with its players union. The CBA that ended the 2011 lockout instituted no immediate changes to the draft, but called for a committee of owners and players to discuss future changes.[1] As of 2015, the basic eligibility rules for the draft are listed below.
- All drafted players must be at least 19 years old during the calendar year of the draft. In terms of dates, players eligible for the 2015 draft must be born on or before December 31, 1996.[2]
- Any player who is not an "international player", as defined in the CBA, must be at least one year removed from the graduation of his high school class.[2] The CBA defines "international players" as players who permanently resided outside the United States for three years prior to the draft, did not complete high school in the U.S., and have never enrolled at a U.S. college or university.[3]
Early entrants
91 players—48 players from colleges/post-graduate institutions and 43 international players—declared early for the NBA draft before the April 26 deadline, but had until June 15 to withdraw their names.[4]

Players who meet the criteria for "international" players are automatically eligible if they meet any of the following criteria:

Combine
The invitation-only NBA Draft Combine was scheduled to occur Chicago from May 12 to 17. The on-court element of the combine was scheduled for May 14 and 15.[77]
Draft lottery
The NBA conducts an annual draft lottery to determine the draft order for teams that did not make the playoffs in the preceding season. Each team that missed the playoffs has a chance at winning a top three pick, but teams with worse records have a better chance at winning a top three pick. After the lottery selects the teams that receive a top three pick, the other teams receive a pick based on their winning percentage from the preceding season. The table below shows each non-playoff team's chances (based on their record at the end of the season) of receiving picks 1–14. The 2015 lottery will be held on May 19.[78]

Trades involving draft picks
Pre-draft trades
- On June 30, 2012, the Sacramento Kings acquired JJ Hickson from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange, the Cavaliers received Omri Casspi and a 2013 lottery-protected pick; it became a top twelve protected pick in 2014, and is currently a top ten protected pick for 2015. Should the Kings retain this pick in 2015, it becomes a first round selection in 2016, top ten protected; or a first round selection in 2017, top ten protected. It becomes a second round selection in 2017, in the event that by 2017, the first round selection is not conveyed.[81] On January 6, 2014, this selection was traded by the Cavaliers to the Chicago Bulls as part of a transaction to acquire Luol Deng.[82]
- On July 11, 2012, the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Steve Nash from the Phoenix Suns. In exchange, the Suns received the Lakers' first round pick in 2013, and the Lakers' first round pick in 2015 conditional on the pick not being a top five selection. Should the Lakers retain this pick in 2015, it becomes a first round selection in 2016, top three protected; or a first round selection in 2017 top three protected; or an unprotected first round selection in 2018.[79] On February 19, 2015, the Philadelphia 76ers acquired this pick in a three-team trade involving the Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks.[80]
- On July 11, 2012, the Brooklyn Nets gave the Atlanta Hawks the rights to swap first round picks for both the 2014 and 2015 NBA Drafts, as part of the trade to acquire Joe Johnson.[83]
- On July 15, 2014, the Houston Rockets traded their first and second round picks in 2015 NBA draft and Jeremy Lin to the Los Angeles Lakers for cash.[84]
- As part of a three-team trade on January 5, 2015, the Oklahoma City Thunder traded their first round pick in the 2015 draft to the Cleveland Cavaliers. With Oklahoma City making it the top 18 in the draft, Oklahoma City will get its first round pick in the 2015 Draft.[85]
