Song |
"Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" is a song by American electronic music producer Skrillex. It was released on October 25, 2010 as the lead single from his second EP of the same name. Musically, "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" is prominently a dubstep song that uses elements of electro house, progressive house and glitch, while also having heavy influences of post-dubstep. It also uses a vocal sample of exclamations from Rachael Nedrow (also known as "speedstackinggirl") shouting "Yes, oh my Gosh!"[1] The song has since become his most commercially successful single to date, peaking within the charts of the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Norway and Sweden.[2][3][4][5][6] On December 9, 2011, the song was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), with sales exceeding 500,000 units.[7] It was also certified Gold within Canada, with sales exceeding 5,000 units.[8] On November 30, the song was nominated at the 54th Grammy Awards for Best Dance Recording.
