"Politically Inept, with Homer Simpson" is the tenth episode of the twenty-third season of the American animated sitcom The Simpsons. It is scheduled to air on the Fox network in the United States on January 8, 2012.
Plot
Homer is given his own television show called Gut Check with Homer Simpson, while Ted Nugent, who is running for president as the candidate for the Republican Party, tries to get Homer's support.[1]
Production
The episode was written by John Frink and parodies several political shows from channels such as MSNBC, CNN, and FOX News that are similar to Gut Check with Homer Simpson.[2] American musician and conservative political activist Ted Nugent guest starred in the episode as himself, providing his voice for both speaking and singing parts.[2] In an article about the appearance, E.J. Judge of WCBS-FM wrote that because Nugent is an advocate of hunting and gun ownership rights, "a nod on the Republican card suits him well."[3] Nugent had previously made a minor cameo in the season nineteen episode "I Don't Wanna Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" (2007).[1] In that episode, his voice is heard during a phone call urging people to vote no on a proposition that would make crossbows illegal in public schools. He notes: "If we outlaw crossbows, who's gonna protect our children from charging elk?"[4][5][6]
Release
The episode is scheduled to air on the Fox network in the United States on January 8, 2012.[7]
